Tobacco Mailing and Billboard

HCCDFC mailed the following letters (seen below) to 843 tobacco retailers throughout Hudson County to remind them of the tobacco laws, to always check ID and not sell tobacco products to persons under the legal age of 19.  Each mailing included a letter to the store owner, and a modified version of the “Look, See, Check ID” in both English and Spanish. The letter also included the FDA information to each vendor for support.

HCCDFC also advertised New Jersey’s law that prohibits retailers from selling tobacco to customers under the legal age of 19 on twelve billboards throughout the county. The coalition’s aim is to make sure that tobacco retailers follow the law by checking ID and not selling tobacco to youth under 19.

Western Campaign Ad

The Western Campaign Ad provides location information of the 4 local drop boxes within Hudson County. HCCDFC focused on targeting this campaign towards the senior community and promoted it within senior housing authorities to help prevent prescription and over the counter medication abuse/misuse.

Honeybees Tobacco Activity

The coalition paired up with the Jersey City Honeybees to disseminate educational information on responsibly selling tobacco and properly checking IDs to 11 Tobacco selling retailers.

Town Hall Meeting- April 26th

Hudson County Coalition For A Drug-Free Community would like to thank all who came out to the Town Hall Meeting on Underage Drinking held on April 26th at New Jersey City University. It was a great success!

During the meeting, attendees had the opportunity to participate in an interactive activity, view a Public Service Announcement, and listen in on panelist discussion.

The coalition also announced their college survey raffle winners of the $200 gift cards. Congratulations are in order for both Alay Shah from New Jersey City University and Samuel Rodrigues from Saint Peter’s University!
