Underage Drinking

In 2012, Hudson County Middle School Students had the 2nd highest Annual use of Alcohol and the 3rd highest past 30 day use of Alcohol (NJ Middle School Risk and Protective Factor Survey). Hudson County Coalition for a Drug-Free Community is committed to reducing youth substance abuse and educating our community through these active projects:

  • Media Campaigns
  • Yearly Newsletter to Local Police Departments

Prescription Drug Abuse

There is a high prevalence of prescription drug abuse among middle and high school students in Hudson County. In 2012 and 2014, Hudson County Coalition for a Drug-Free Community administered their student survey to over 4,000 8th, 10th and 12th grade students in Hudson County. In 2014, 16% of Hudson County students who participated reported using prescription drugs without a doctor’s prescription in the past 30 days. Hudson County Coalition for a Drug-Free Community is committed to reducing youth substance abuse and educating our community through these active projects:

  • Installation of permanent Rx drug disposal boxes in 3 municipalities
  • Offer Pharmacies table tents with Rx Disposal locales
  • Media Campaigns
  • Partners in the NJ State Police to provide trainings to healthcare personnel
  • Take Back Days twice a year (April & October)
  • Yearly Newsletter to Local Police Departments
