Union City’s Youth Task Force partook in an awareness activity. They distributed folders with educational information about responsibly selling Tobacco Products in the state of New Jersey to four retailers. The youth informed all four retailers on the importance of them not selling Tobacco to those under the legal age of 19. Great emphasis was placed on how business owners and their employees need to comply with the state law, ” a person who sells or offers to sell a tobacco product to a person under 19 years of age shall pay a penalty of up to $1,000 and may be subject to license suspension or revocation [New Jersey P.L.2005 C.384]”.
These six young men were excited and empowered to make community change within their neighborhood.
